How the shared flight works
You fly in a large basket shared with other guests. Your pilot stands in the middle, flies the balloon and points out what you see below. If you prefer a basket only for your group, choose a private flight.
Most guests on the shared flight are couples, friends and solo travellers. It's a relaxed, friendly group: people take photos of each other, and by breakfast everyone is chatting.
Your morning, in short
We collect you 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours before sunrise. At our base you have tea, coffee and local biscuits, and your pilot gives you a full briefing before the balloons are prepared, with time for all your questions. Then the balloons are filled and you lift off around sunrise, fly for 45 to 60 minutes, land in an open field and sit down to breakfast on Berber rugs. You are back at your hotel in the late morning. Read the full morning step by step.
Shared or private?
If you'd like the basket only for your group, or you are planning a proposal or a birthday, have a look at our private balloon flight. For breakfast served during the flight itself, see breakfast on board.
Questions about this flight
How many passengers are in a shared hot air balloon basket?

Is ballooning scary for first-time passengers?
Most first-timers are surprised how calm it is. There is no feeling of speed, the take-off is so gentle that many people don't notice it, and your pilot explains everything in the briefing before the balloons are prepared, so you know exactly what will happen. First-time flyers.
What time do Marrakech hot air balloon tours start?
Hotel pickup is 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours before sunrise: roughly 4:30 to 5:00 in summer and 6:30 to 7:00 in winter. This leaves time for a clear briefing, all your questions and tea or coffee before the flight, and for the pilot to move the take-off place if the wind requires it. We send you the exact time the evening before. Pickup times for every month.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my balloon flight?
If the pilot decides it is not safe to fly, the flight does not go. You choose: a new date or a full refund. Our weather policy.
Can children go on a hot air balloon ride in Marrakech?
Yes, children from 5 years old are welcome with an adult. Children aged 5 to 11 pay €130 on the classic shared flight. Tell us their ages and heights when you book and we will confirm. Families with young children often prefer a private balloon. Family flights.
